Sustainability

We're always thinking about the world we're leaving for our little ones - and doing our part to make it a brighter, more sustainable one.

A bit gentler on the planet

At The Mumsie, we're learning and improving our environmental impact every day. Our babywearing overalls are made to be kinder to the planet, with materials sourced responsibly and production that keeps waste down. So you're not only carrying your baby - you're backing a small business that's working to make a difference, one step at a time.

What we're doing

Sustainability has been part of the plan since day one, and the brand's growth has let us push it further. We're committed to lowering our impact and making products that last - worn through pregnancy, postpartum, babywearing, toddler-wrangling, and well beyond, as the coolest pair of overalls you'll own. A garment you wear for years is a more sustainable one by design.

Better fabrics

We work closely with our manufacturers to source and trial durable, sustainable and organic fabrics. More of our styles are now made in a luxe sustainable denim - a blend of cotton and recycled Ecovero that feels lovely to wear. And there's more in development: GOTS-certified organic styles, 100% biodegradable denim, and natural dyes made with Ceylon tea. Watch this space.

Lower-impact production

Our manufacturers work with the Sustainable Apparel Coalition, using the Higg Index to measure everything from water and chemical use to waste, and their numbers improve year on year. Our mumsies are made with a wash that uses 50% less water, 60% less steam and 60% less energy than the average production method.

Conscious packaging

We've committed to compostable bags for postage and packaging wherever possible. Individual mumsies are packed by our manufacturers into biodegradable satchels, certified to Standard EN 13432.

Ethically made

Every mumsie is made to the highest quality, and all of it is ethically made. For us, that means caring about the social side of production - how factories operate, and how the people in them are treated and paid. It means fair, Fairtrade, and socially responsible. Strong relationships with our manufacturers let us make a great product without it costing anyone fair wages or decent conditions. We believe in fair labour, we source from responsible suppliers, and we make everything with the wellbeing of both people and the planet in mind.

Honest about it

We're not claiming perfect. We're claiming we keep working at it.
